You can actually go into the forest and find the place where there was a monster sighting on the map - then you can see the monster again and take a picture to show to Karl. Also - have you checked the passageways? The forest? Go outside and when you're facing the forest, see if you can take out the map you found in Renate's purse see if Nancy comments. Renate will drop something that you need to use on the book in the hallway outside Karl's office - it will get pretty explanatory once you've done that.
